A woman, identified as Beatrice, at the Bajare Camp in the Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State, was allegedly beaten up by some thugs, killing her two-year-old baby.
DAILY POST gathered that the thugs attacked Beatrice on the instruction of one Toyin, a middle-aged woman following a disagreement between them.
According to witnesses, the disagreement between Toyin and Beatrice led to a fiasco. One of the witnesses, who pleaded anonymity, said: “Toyin left the scene and came back with some thugs who she ordered to beat up Beatrice.
“The toddler who was strapped to his mother’s back was smashed against the floor by one of the thugs during the brawl, leading to his death.”
It was gathered that the thugs immediately fled the area, while the toddler was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
The remains of the deceased baby had been deposited at the Alade Idanre General Hospital mortuary.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state, Mr. Wole Ogodo, confirmed the incident saying the mother of the baby reported the matter at the police station.
